Sony Pictures Classics has acquired North American rights to Young Adam, the Ewan McGregor and Tilda Swinton-starrer directed by David Mackenzie.
The movie focuses on the owners and a new employee of a barge sailing between Glasgow and Edinburgh who discover the corpse of a woman floating in a canal. A story develops over whether her death was accidental or murder, and whether it involves the workers on the barge.
The budget for the "Adam" has been stated to be $7 million. The decision of when the film will be released will be made after the Toronto Film Festival where it had a sneak screening Sunday.
